Applicants should submit the following documents (all materials should be written in English, please attach an official English translation if English is not available). A completed application includes:
8.1 Copy of the passport front page
If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport is not expired before September 2022), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application.
8.2 A notarized highest diploma
Prospective diploma recipients must submit official proof of student status in their current school.
8.3 Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards)
Applicants shall provide copies of academic records from the first to the last semester during the undergraduate, master’s (if any), and doctoral programs (if any). These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attended university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English and must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English.
8.4 Proof of language proficiency. Original or copy of transcripts of TOEFL or IELTS examinations (Note: Applicants whose university education was taught entirely in English may provide proof of instruction in English instead).
8.5 A research proposal. The research proposal should be submitted in Chinese/English (1000 words or more). In the meantime, the proposal for Ph.D. students must be signed by the potential Chinese supervisor.
8.6 Letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation from two professors or associate professors should be submitted, focusing on the applicant's objectives for study in China, the cooperation between the Chinese institution or Chinese supervisor and the foreign supervisor or inter-university exchange, and the evaluation of the student's overall ability and future development, in Chinese or English only.
8.7 A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the applicant shall keep the original copy)
The form is issued by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the attending physician’s signature, the official stamp of the hospital, or a stamped photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination, as the result is valid for only 6 months.
8.8 Non-criminal record report
The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
8.9 Proof of Chinese language proficiency (not required, please provide if available).
8.10 After completing the online application, print the application form and paste the 2-inch bareheaded certificate photo.
12.1 Youth of Excellence Scheme of China , Tuition waiver, free accommodation, monthly living expenses in accordance with national regulations, medical insurance provided.
12.2 Chinese Government Scholarship, Partial tuition fee waiver, accommodation fee waiver, monthly living expenses in accordance with national regulations, medical insurance provided.
12.3 Beijing Government Scholarship, Partial waiver of tuition fees.
